Each professional field of nursing is examined by the NMC test of competence, part 1 is a subject-oriented computer-based multiple-choice examination and part 2 is a clinical structured practical examination to test the pre-registered nurses or midwives UK competency standards.

PART 1: computer-based test (CBT): CBT is completely a subject-oriented computer-based multiple-choice online test to assess the theoretical knowledge about nursing and midwives standards in the UK. CBT can be done across the globe. We provide online free practice materials to practice the real-time CBT exam in order to gain the confidence to approach the exam with a clear understanding. Computer-based test (CBT) cost £83 per test, paid to test provider before the test.

PART 2: Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE): OSCE is a modern type of examination often used in health sciences (e.g. midwifery, occupational therapy, physician assistants/associates, physical therapy, radiography, rehabilitation medicine, nursing pharmacy, dentistry, chiropractic, etc.). It is designed to test clinical skill performance and competence in skills such as communication, clinical examination, medical procedures/prescription, exercise prescription, joint mobilisation/manipulation techniques, radiographic positioning, radiographic image evaluation and interpretation of results. It allows to understand the key factors that drive the medical decision-making process, and challenges the professional to be innovative and reveals their errors in case-handling and provides an open space for improved decision making based on evidence-based practice for real-world responsibilities.
